Belle Island, a small, ancient delta in the Rideau River, abounds in refugee wildlife from the nearby city of Kingston. I was among that group of refugee wildlife, studying and meditating frequently beside small cooking fires...
Heavily polluted due mainly to a nearby dump, one-time tannery and an oil spill, somehow life survives - even thriving. Perhaps the Early Woodlands Indians, who once spent time here cooking, hunting and occasionally burying their dead, saw a different landscape during their visits, but I wouldn't trade in what I've experienced here for anything. This island has brought me some of my best memories. LIFE TOUR: THEM LAST 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 BEGIN LIFE: US
